Indiana Hoosier Art Salon
This year marks the 89th consecutive annual exhibition of the Hoosier Art Salon and we are proud to be a part of the traveling show that travels all around the state of Indiana. The them for the 2013 exhibit is “Art and the Human Soul”. Out of 498 entries only 138 works of art by 114 current artist members were juried into this prestigious art show. Even with the economic downturn, prizes totaling nearly $25,000 have been awarded for excellence!
While the annual exhibition is the biggest event sponsored by the Hoosier Salon Patrons Association, the organization promotes Indiana artists in several other ways, including year-round galleries in Indianapolis, New Harmony, and Wabash, Indiana. The Hoosier Salon also has an educational outreach program that has several components working directly with Indiana schools throughout the state.
The Hoosier Salon is a statewide nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to create an appreciation of visual art by promoting Hoosier artists and their art.
We are proud to note that one of Boone County’s area artists, Carol Fisher, from rural Thorntown, IN is a part of this year’s exhibit. We congratulate Mrs. Fisher on her accomplishment and wish her well with her art in the future.
The Art Center will be hosting the Hoosier Art Salon from November 8th through December 14th.
